Alexander Brown has had a varied career focusing primarily on political activism and community activities and doing a variety of jobs along the way. He has travelled widely, particularly to Japan but has always regarded Wollongong as home. He loves Wollongong’s beautiful natural environment and has been involved in struggles to protect it, such as the Port Kembla copper smelter campaign and the Sandon Point campaign. I became involved in the peace movement in opposition to the Iraq war and then, with my growing interest in Japanese society and history, I began to focus on nuclear issues after 2011, when the Fukushima disaster struck.
